The thing is, there aren't really major design differences between the Debut and the Nova. spend MUCH more time on the Nova mouthpieces than they do on the Debut. People REALLY care if their hand-crafted custom Fobes mouthpiece breaks, you know? But that said, it's also true that the B50 has recently gained a good deal of attention from professional orchestra players, so it's certainly worth a shot - at ~$150, it's worth a shot anyway.Īs for the Fobes mouthpieces, the Nova will always be a much better mouthpiece than the Debut, for two reasons: it's a better material (Nova is hard rubber, Debut is acrylic), and Fobes and co. ![]() They're easy to replace if something goes wrong - nobody cares if a Vandoren breaks. It is by far the best of the Vandoren bass mouthpieces. I'd take the B45 back and go with Distort_'s recommendation and try a Vandoren B50.
